Many gifted children begin to exhibit their exceptional abilities, even as babies or toddlers. For example, they can sit and pay attention when read to within six months of age and can form two-word phrases by 14 months.
This checklist outlines characteristics often found in gifted kids, though of course, no one child will own them all. Instead, the list gives an idea of the areas to look out for, whether your child is three or 10. He or she may have traits that fall under two or more categories, though one or two might dominate. It may tell you what you already know that each child has a gift, or many gifts! the artiste Responds automatically to rhythm and melody. Can tell if a note is off-key. Creates original tunes. Knows how to bring out the best in others.Has a sense of justice & fair play. Able to affect the mood of a group.Forms ideas on how to solve problems within the group. Do treat the list as a rough guide and not as an accurate assessment of your child’s abilities. An expert, such as an education psychologist or child psychologist, will be able to make a much more accurate assessment of your child’s abilities.
